The downtown and the streets running back from the Bay of Quinte hold some of the best preserved Victorian housing stock in eastern Ontario, and it comes with everything that implies: stone and rubble foundations, balloon framing, plaster over lath, and a century of renovations done to a century of standards.
That is the work we have done longest. Cobourg and Port Hope have the same housing stock and the same problems, and twenty-five years of opening up walls in nineteenth-century houses transfers directly.
Outside the core, Belleville carries the usual mix of post-war and newer subdivision housing, plus waterfront property along the Bay.
Belleville is in Hastings County, not Northumberland. Permits go through the City of Belleville, and the requirements and timelines differ from the ones in Cobourg and Port Hope. We work in both.
